WONDERING WHERE MICHAEL JACKSON’S
“BILLIE JEAN” BLACK SEQUIN JACKET IS?
Let’s go back to the year
1984, which was, without a doubt, the year to remember, not just for fans
and The Jacksons,
but also for Michael
Jackson himself. Fans from all over came to the Pontiac Siverdome to see
the iconic Michael Jackson performing with his brothers. Michael took the world
by storm the previous year when he and his brothers appeared for the star studded
Motown 25 Special: Yesterday,Today and Forever. Michael showcased his solo hit,
Billie Jean,
while wearing the now famous black sequin jacket, a white sequin glove (which originally
was a golf glove decorated with rhinestones) and a black fedora hat, while doing
his signature moonwalk.
When tickets were being purchased for this legendary 1984 Victory Tour concert, exact seating was not known until
shortly before the show dates. Fortunately for our Super-fan, shown here in the original 1984 Billie Jean Victory Tour video, he and his
friends ended up scoring big with front row seats for this epic concert.
The Victory Tour marked the end of Michael Jackson performing
with his brothers, enabling him to pursue his solo career, which had already taken
flight not only with his Billie Jean track and the Motown 25 Special, but also with
his multi-platinum
Thriller album.
NEWSWEEK, reported the events of the opening night in Kansas
City where Michael was informed of ticket issues, and publicly responded by donating
all of his earnings from The Victory Tour to charities.
The happenings of the Silverdome concert were reported by the
Macomb Daily a few days later. Documenting that during the Billie Jean performance
in Pontiac, the Jacksons were dancing while Michael spun around, eased out of his
black sequin jacket and looked directly at our Super-fan, who was yelling and screaming
in the front row the entire concert. Michael then tossed the jacket directly to
our Super-fan, who caught it and was immediately rushed by other concert fans.
